A Council committee is a committee, roundtable, board or other body established by Council under the Municipal Government Act and municipal bylaws. Council committees act in an advisory capacity to Council. Committees review material, weigh alternatives and provide recommendations, information and advice to Town Council on important community issues and topics.
Some boards may also fill a quasi-judicial role, which means the board has the authority to make decisions and judgements as provided for in the Municipal Government Act.
Serving on a committee is an excellent chance for residents to be involved in local government. If you like meeting new people and participating in discussions, apply now.
Application
Our annual committee recruitment takes place each summer, however we accept applications throughout the year for available positions. Read more about each committee below and apply online. Council appoints qualified candidates based on recommendations from Administration.
