During tonight’s Regular Meeting, Stony Plain Council accepted an update on the Town’s Advocacy Strategy. Advocacy with regional partners and other levels of government is one of the tools used to manage external factors with the potential to impact the Town’s ability to achieve strategic priorities.
For the first time in history, Stony Plain will be hosting a Poet Laureate – a cultural and literary ambassador, a champion for poetry, and representative through original works that reflect on our community and life. Stony Plain’s Poet Laureate will be the 6.
The Town of Stony Plain is looking for students to apply for the incredible chance to join the summer delegation to its sister town of Shikaoi, Japan. There are 10 spots available in the delegation, which will travel to Japan from July 2 to 16.
The Town of Stony Plain, in partnership with its sister town of Shikaoi, Japan, is in search of one individual to fill the position of Assistant Language Teacher (ALT). The successful applicant will have the chance to live and work in Japan for a year while helping teach English to Japanese children and adults.
During their meeting on January 28, Town of Stony Plain Council approved the use of $450,000 from deferred off site levies for the construction of a service road to the St. John Paul II Catholic School site.
Stony Plain MLA Erin Babcock will announce plans for Highway 628 improvements on behalf of Transportation Minister Brian Mason. .
The traffic signals at the Highway 779 Ave and Highway 628 intersection were put into operation this morning. The signals at 57 Ave are currently being installed and should be put in flash mode later this week or early next week.
Coming together in the spirit of collaboration, Parkland County, the City of Spruce Grove and the Town of Stony Plain have committed to the development of a new Regional Plan. The Regional Plan will guide future economic development, land use, and sustainability across the region, with the best interests of all three communities in mind.
Traffic signals have been installed at the intersection of Highway 779 and Highway 628 and are in flash mode. The lights are flashing yellow on Highway 779 and red on Highway 628.
