Work at Stony Plain Central School’s new location continues with ongoing power installation. Trail and sidewalk installation will soon be underway followed by landscaping.
At 6:11PM last night, the Stony Plain Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at Parkland Farm Equipment. Upon arrival, crews found a vacant, fully engulfed school bus in the yard of the equipment dealership.
The annual Shred-It event is returning to Stony Plain. Residents can head down to Rotary Recycling Centre on Saturday, September 26 from 9AM to 1PM to safely dispose of personal and confidential documents free of charge.
Work on Willow Heights Drive is expected to wrap up this weekend. The road is anticipated to be opened for public use on Monday, September 21.
Concrete work downtown is almost set! All concrete work south of 51 Avenue is now complete, including sidewalks on the avenue up to the lanes with the exception of the walkway at ATB Financial.
Alberta Transportation’s Highway 779 construction project continues forward with the 55 Avenue intersection being reopened to traffic on Tuesday, September 15. Paving has also been completed in the back lanes on the east side of 48 Street.
The results are in! The Town of Stony Plain has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association’s (AUMA) Sustainability in Action Award for municipalities with populations of 10,000 or more.
The Town has been informed that CN will be temporarily closing the outside northbound lane on 48 Street between 49 Avenue and 47 Avenue today from 11am to 7pm to investigate the culvert on the north side of the rail crossing.
As part of Alberta Transportation’s (AT) Highway 779 construction project, the 55 Avenue intersection was reopened to traffic late yesterday afternoon. Crews will be closing the 51 Avenue intersection to accommodate reconstruction starting at 9AM on Friday, September 18 and then closing the 52 Avenue intersection on Monday, September 21 at 9AM to accommodate realignment of the west side of the intersection.
Council Reviews Code of Conduct Bylaw. Council gave first reading to the Code of Conduct Bylaw during last night’s meeting.
