The Town has been informed by Alberta Transportation (AT) that the service road between 53 Avenue and 55 Avenue has been closed for removal as part of the Highway 779 project. The asphalt and sidewalk have been removed and excavation for construction of the road base has begun.
The Town of Stony Plain is beginning its annual recruitment of residents to participate on multiple Council-appointed advisory boards. These boards and committees provide information, advice, and recommendations to Council and Administration on important issues facing Stony Plain.
Underground construction on 51 Avenue for the Downtown Redevelopment project is nearing completion and road work is expected to begin shortly.
Alberta Transportation (AT) has informed the Town that 50 Avenue will be closed at the 48 Street intersection beginning Monday, July 20 at 7:00AM to accommodate the widening of 48 Street (Highway 779). The closure is planned from the east Rexall Drugs access to the 48 Street intersection and is expected to remain in place for 7 to 10 days.
Council Updates Policies to Strengthen Fiscal Sustainability. An updated Debt Management policy and Cash Management and Investment policy were approved by Council at last night’s meeting.
CN has informed the Town that the crossing at Highway 779 (48 Street) will be closed on July 15 from 7:00 a. m. until 4:00 p. m for surface work.
Underground construction at the Central School site is now complete. Surface work will begin as soon as possible, weather dependent.
Timelines for the Downtown Redevelopment project have been impacted by recent rain. At present, the project is behind the originally projected schedule.
Alberta Transportation (AT) has informed the Town that inclement weather has caused delays over the last two weeks. Despite the rain delays, work continues on the 48 Street (Highway 779) Grade Widening Project.
