Code of Conduct Bylaw Given Second and Third Reading. Council gave second and third reading to the Code of Conduct bylaw last night.

This year marks the third annual Award of Creative Excellence, an award celebrating individuals, organizations, non-profits, or businesses who contribute to social and cultural cohesion, community identity, creative economic sustainability, and local tourism. The Town is excited to announce the 2020 Award of Creative Excellence winner: The Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum’s Model Train Exhibit.

Downtown Redevelopment construction is wrapping up for the winter season.

Face Mask Bylaw Now in Effect as Town Placed on ‘Watch’ by Alberta Health Services. Stony Plain has officially been placed on a ‘Watch’ by Alberta Health Services (AHS) with 11 active cases (as of October 26) reported in the community.

With construction season nearing its end, Downtown Redevelopment continues with Phase IV of the project. While significant work has been completed in the downtown area, the final phase of construction for the project will carry-over to 2021.

The demolition of the Sommerville Springs site is now complete. Demolition of the site included the tear down and clean up of 40 structures in the development as well as grading on site.

Construction work continues on Alberta Transportation’s Highway 779 project with a few closures to be noted. The intersections at 51 Avenue and 52 Avenue have been closed for construction.

Construction work downtown will see a few upcoming back lane closures. The back lane entrance behind ATB Financial has been closed for concrete work and is expected to reopen on Sunday, September 27.
